Achiever Christian
Pre-school Curriculum:
Christian Education
Christian character traits and verses from the Bible are taught as
an integral part of the child's learning experiences each month. In addition to
daily training, teachers conduct weekly classroom chapel times, drawing from both the WEE
and Biblical Foundations curriculums for theme-related Bible stories.
Reading Readiness
To help our students become early readers, we use the Zoo Phonics
program. This program helps children learn the sights and sounds of each letter of
the alphabet by using animals. Zoo Phonics teaches our four-and-five-year-olds by
using flash cards, verbalizing the letter and phonic sound and then placing movement with
the letter and sound. These skills are reinforced when our students enter
kindergarten at Achiever.
Math and Science Readiness
Our math and science curriculum, which begins in our
three-year-olds' class, has been developed by teachers. It is sequential at each
level but allows flexibility for contribution as individual student and class needs arise.
Our curriculum builds the foundation for later success in math and science.
Social Studies, Art, Music & Movement
Our students learn about a variety of
subjects, from which art and music activities are built. For example, students are
taught to listen to directions and lyrics and respond in song, rhythm or by creating a
particular project or drawing or painting a picture. We value music and art
experiences as a universal means of expression where all children can experience suc-cess.
As an addition to our
current curriculum we are adding an Introduction to Spanish in our
preschool classes. Studies, Art, Music
& Movement
Our students learn about a variety of subjects, from which art and music
activities are built. For example, students are taught to listen to directions and

A Day at Achiever Christian
Preschool Includes...
Free Play: Upon arrival the children have the freedom to
choose any offered activities designed to encourage growth in readiness skills.
These include art, puzzles, games, sensory activities, playhouse activities and rug toys.
Theme: Children gather on the rug to discuss the weekly theme, sing, exercise,
read a story or participate in Show and Tell time. The children begin developing
some of the most important skills needed in a school setting: concentration and vocabulary
development.
Small & Large Group Settings: Children not only learn and practice new
concepts in math, science and phonics but also polish those skills previously introduced.
Children also learn to use a pencil to write letters, numbers and their names.
Recess Periods: Children develop social skills, stretch and strengthen their
large muscles, learn basic safety rules and continue to grow in compassion for one another
during each of their outdoor play periods.
Snack Time: Nutritious daily snacks are provided by the school for the children.
Parents often send snacks from home for holiday or birthday parties.
